    other possible explanations for a craft of this size:
    The aliens are themselves enormous, and require a larger habitable space than anything human-sized.
    This isn't biological "life" that we are encountering - it is self-aware artifical intelligence and its massive scale represents longterm mechanical "growth" or evolution.
    Interstellar travel requires machinery on this scale - "saucers" by themselves can't make the jump between stars and galaxies.
    Just a few ideas off the top of my head.

    I do believe I know why, but my answer will probably strike you as ridiculous. Two years ago I had a spiritual epiphany that revealed to me that these are the 'end of days'. Before you stop reading further, this epiphany revealed to me that all religions are aspects of truth and I discovered since this epiphany that virtually all religions describe an 'end time' in almost identical terms.     As for UFOs, tho I don't go into this on my site, the Hindu Purana actually predicts that the "Mahar" (which means life from other planets) will rescue some people before the Earth is "destroyed". The Hopi Indians also teach similar ideas. They have taught that we've had four worlds of evolution and that each one was destroyed by one of the elements, the last world was destroyed by the great Flood. Each time the Hopi were saved by what their ancestors called the "ant people", which modern day Hopi say means aliens. And a few years ago it was reported that Tibetan monks made the claim that aliens would save us before the world is destroyed. It is my belief that these crafts are being seen on purpose in order to prepare humanity psychologically for the upcoming events. I doubt that all of humanity can be lifted off the planet, but it's clear that ships of this size would be needed to have any impact. And both the Hindu Purana and the Hopi say that we're about to enter into a Golden Age and I do know that they are correct.

    If it's true that many aliens submerge themselves in our oceans and lakes for shelter or because that's how they live in their worlds, then it would make sense that they could set up a "base" of operations or even a long term "colony" in such large vehicles underneath the surface of large bodies of water. The sightings of such large craft--especially at such low altitude--might well be when such vehicles are leaving the water or about to enter it.

    Or, tying some other stories together, these could be large, man-made vehicles that comprise our military presence in space. I doubt this, though, since such man-made vehicles very likely wouldn't be launched or tested anywhere near populated areas.

    One troubling question in my opinion, at least, is: "why would such a large vehicle be seen at all"? Orbs and other "types" of UFOs are usually pretty hard to see and usually seem to avoid detection, though when they're seen can resemble conventional aircraft and be dismissed by even the witness as nothing unusual. But something as large as what was reportedly seen in Stephenville can't easily be dismissed as a weather balloon, swamp gas, or a flock of birds.

    It's very important that guidelines of intellectual weakness be observed on topics such as this.

    Hindu Puranas, Hopi legends, Norse Myths, shape-shifting royal families, and Marvin the Martian should all be carefully considered, but any posts which demonstrate the Judeo-Christian perspective should be edited out completely.

    First, I want to thank all of you who have responded to my article.

    Kent - Funny, indeed - don't we all feel that way. That said, the computer similation along with our potentially simulated consciousness is certainly a real possibility. If machines can become conscious, then certainly programs designed from consciousness (humans) could be an actual situation.

    Wmmott - Interesting. In my personal opinion, if the ships represent an entity - I don't think it is God coming. That said, if it is a simulation, the information we might be provided could match up to what you say.

    Nick - Killer observations to me. Indeed, the crafts may be artificial intelligence (machinces making machines) that has evolved or gotten out of control in some way. And, indeed, perhaps it does take crafts of this size to roam the galaxy -- good thoughts.

    Tom --- I do respect the old Indian tales as having truth. It makes sense that `man' has been monitored and that `aliens' didn't just show up. Who knows right?

    D.F. -- Obviously, WHERE the crafts STAY is a real issue and I don't reject your thoughts that `they' have simply set up here on Earth. That said, as you say, the real issue is why is the craft `showing' on display. Renegade aliens perhaps?

    Wmmott - As the editor I will chose to display what I chose and what I chose to respond to. I didn't post yours immediately simply due to computer problems from my end.     I think that Biblical and indeed, various religious writings may have merit if a non-human intelligence not only has been guiding our development, but created us to begin with.

    This entire "new" idea of a matrix-like simulation being our reality is moot, however, because even if true it is not a reality that we can "unhook" or disconnect from, but one which we are totally integrated into and a part of. If a "simulation", then it would have to originate with a "machine" or technology of a higher-dimensional order--something that UFOs do seem to support by their behavior in relation to our physics here. That said, the "simulation" is still "real", because it is the only reality we can possibly know. This leads to the next and obvious question: Who, or What, created, maintains, and occasionally intervenes/interlopes/immerses into the simulation?

    Here is where sacred texts--all of them to greater or lesser extent--come in. What if there IS an escape from this "simulation", a "data transference" to "another OS", i.e., a higher dimensional state, for a select few (relatively speaking)? What if this is what religious traditions have been hinting at and striving for over the centuries? What if there IS a "Master Programmer", one who at one time immersed himself in our "reality" via a flesh-and-blood "avatar", for the express purpose of removing some of us from the simulation permanently?

    It may be time to start looking at these various, to some seemingly-unrelated, topics as disparate parts of one puzzle.

    I thought I might mention that the Hindu's (and Buddhists) say that this is all a dream. And there is a Hindu story of a god who wanted to experience life as a pig. He became a pig in every way. He quickly became so enamored with being a pig that he forgot he was a god. The other gods saw what was happening and they tried to convince this god that he was not a pig, but a god, but he couldn't be reached. he was so immersed in being a pig, he could not see himself any other way.

    I believe it's an ultra-secret U.S. government created craft.

    Attempting to build upon this theory, I quickly wondered (as did yourself) why the government would need a craft of such immense size.

    The only realistic conclusion I can come up with, is that they are using it as a secret transport to move large amounts of highly classified material, such as nuclear weapons, or other secret projects which they'd be able to keep from being accountable in such a manner.

    I'm not aware of any similarly described craft being witnessed anywhere else in the world, only in the U.S. This is what makes me believe that this was "Made in America". Interesting also, how the recent sightings so closely resemble the so-called "Phoenix lights" in 1997. Why would both major sightings have taken place in the American South-West? It could not be co-incidence, since most secretly tested craft are in that area of the U.S.

    Just my two-cents.

    Okay... well, here's the perspective of someone who claims alien contact. I'm one of many abductees (or experiencers or whatever is the politically correct term these days--!) who has been up and seen those huge mother ships, and for the record, they are mostly empty. Most of us (taken) have been specifically told that they ARE to "pick up" humans for some not-too-far-off planetary catastrophe that is totally unavoidable (you can't hide in a deep underground shelter and survive, in other words.) I have even been shown structures like apartments and houses inside huge empty spaces that I was told was for people to live in after they are picked up for this big event. Only they're not taking us to some other planet, they're just going to "hold" us until the danger has passed, and then put us back down-- along with some of their hybrids, since the mass purging of the population will then leave room for them.

    This future scenario is something that even the best abduction researchers like Budd Hopkins (whom I worked with in the early 90s) and David Jacobs prefer to keep rather hushed. (In Budd's case, because he'd rather think the aliens are lying to manipulate us. My response to that is that they can already make us do anything they want and so such an elaborate and expensive ruse is a waste of time, and if there is one thing the Greys-- and related-- are NOT, it's wasteful.)

    Almost ALL abductees are told this, some remember sooner than others-- but it's almost a universal message. I personally don't know what to make of it for sure, and can't quite bring myself to advocate for this possible future. However, if true, it also explains why the government wouldn't want to admit to it.
