As most of UDCC's readers are probably aware - the reports of anomalous phenomena in the skies is not confined to the 1900's and onward. Indeed, there are some supposed early descriptions that are beyond easy conjectures. Such as one in 1561 that is found on this Wikipedia page about the events of 1561. Quoting from the page:
April 4 – The citizens of Nuremberg see what appears to be an aerial battle followed by the appearance of a large black triangular object and a large crash (with smoke) outside the city. A news notice (an early form of newspaper) is printed on (April 14) describing the event.[1]
