November 17th, 1986 - a case unlike nearly all - but forgotten by nearly all; a tease from the description: (History Channel Produced)
On November 17, 1986, a Japanese crew of a JAL cargo jumbo freighter aircraft witnessed three unidentified objects while flying over Alaska, USA. The Boeing 747 cargo plane was on a routine flight from Paris to Tokyo cruising at 966 km/h (600MPH) at an altitude of 10 600 m (35,000 ft). The plane was heading towards Anchorage, Alaska to re-fuel when at 17:11 Captain Kenji Terauchi reported seeing three large objects 610 m (2000 ft) below, describing the largest as resembling a shelled walnut. Captain Terauchi further described the largest craft as twice the size of an aircraft carrier, after several minutes observing the objects the crew noticed the objects matched the same speed as freighter aircraft. The two smaller objects veered 305 m (1000 ft) in front of the craft so much so that the captain said he could feel the warmth of their glows. Military radar picked up the two objects

This case has it all over Roswell. The radar tapes of this encounter still exist, yet not one shred or speck that can be verified by an objective non-believer has come from Roswell.
ReplyDeleteA group of Roswell "cult followers" has highjacked much of today's Ufology and keeps going down the maze tunnel that has no cheese at the end over and over again. Not very smart rats since they haven't yet figured out that the cheese is somewhere else.
This IS the most compelling case of the 20th Century (even beyond the Phoenix Lights); and a story I remember Tom Brokaw breaking on the NBC Nightly News. Unlike most media reporting on UFO's, Brokaw approached it as serious news. How often do you see that nowadays?
What this story needs is a Stanton Friedman-type PR blitz.
Purrlgurrl,
ReplyDeleteFirst, my thanks for your comments. Like you, I also think it is a GREAT case with excellent evidence.
Also like you, I find those obsessed with ANY of the Old Time `Classic' cases to be almost humorous. They specifically fall into one of the five types of UFO sites and define that niche.
Finally, your memory is better than mine or I simply didn't see TB on that evening. Even by then I had pretty much rejected the views of the MSM and both political parties, so I watched little news.
